4th Grade Visits Mission Santa Clara

4th Grade Visits Mission Santa Clara

Continuing their studies of California history, the 4th grade class visited Santa Clara University, home to the 8th California Mission, Mission Santa Clara. The class watched a slide presentation explaining the history of the Mission from the days of the early Indian tribes to the California Gold Rush.  They toured the Mission grounds and saw many interesting artifacts including baskets woven by the Indians and religious items used by the padres.  The tour gave the students an overview of life at the Mission in the early days. The students learned that Mission Santa Clara continues to serve as a spiritual hub and is now the chapel for the community at Santa Clara University.
