Celebrating Advent In Many Ways
The St. Raymond community celebrates the season of Advent in a number of ways.
For many years, Sr. Ann McGowan has displayed the Nativity scene pictured above. The lambs waiting patiently for the arrival of Jesus, represent the St. Raymond students. Each lamb bares the name of a current student, which Sr. Ann McGowan updates as each class graduates. This tradition is enjoyed year after year by the community.
The St. Raymond faculty joined together to celebrate the season at the home of Sister Ann McGowan, Sister Nancy Morris and Sister Mary Pat Ryan, on the Sacred Heart Campus after school on Monday, December 12th. It was a wonderful way for the faculty to come together to share some Christmas cheer and kick off the week's festivities before the Christmas break.
The St. Raymond Christmas concert is a festive and uplifting event held in the Church, featuring Christmas songs performed by each class. The students have been rehearsing for a number of weeks and are looking forward to entertaining the St. Raymond community on Thursday, December 15th.
In addition, St. Raymond has been spreading good cheer to others through the Adopt-A-Family program. Please check out the following link to see how you can help local families in need. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0e45a9a622aa8-adoptafamily1.
The St. Raymond Mothers' Club hosted a Christmas tea at the Evars' home on Tuesday, December 12th. The annual Christmas tea is always a wonderful social event for the Mothers' Club and provides an opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season and enjoy good friends, and carols sung by the Second Graders.
During the month of December, the Second Grade earned hearts for the class Grinch through acts of kindness. As you can see by the photo here, the students filled the chest of the Grinch to overflowing with all of the kind acts they performed during Advent. To celebrate, the class held a Grinch party which included a viewing of the favorite holiday movie, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
As a special treat for the students, all week they have been sporting Christmas accents with their uniforms -- hats, bows, socks and shirts. On Friday the students will wear holiday dress and celebrate with their school families.
St. Raymond School wishes you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May the blessings of the Christmas season be with you throughout the coming year.
