7th Grade Studies Cell Division

7th Grade Studies Cell Division

St. Raymond 7th grade students spend the year studying life science. They are currently delving into the study of heredity and genetics.  They have dissected flowers, made cell models, and are now learning the intricacies of cell division - mitosis.

To fully engage and understand the cell division process, the 7th graders painstakingly drew the steps involved with mitosis on index cards.  Using their iPads, the students animated the cards to produce a video showing the process of cell division.  Linking science and technology helped the students obtain a clear understanding of this complex process.  Mrs. Hamilton, 7th grade science teacher, had this to say about the project, "The resulting animations were creative, awesome and informative.  Seventh grade rocks!"
