4th Grade Wraps Up Science Unit with Owl Pellet Dissection
There was lots of excitement in the 4th grade classroom as they sifted through owl pellets looking for bones from rodents, shrews, moles and birds. Following a chart with pictures of possible findings, the students were able to match up skulls, jawbones, limbs, ribs and other bones of the various animals that owls feast on.
This project was the culmination of a Science unit the class completed on ecosystems and food chains. They also read the book "Hoot", by Carl Hiaasen. Their findings will be on display at the St. Raymond School Open House on Sunday.
