Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
While studying about how "Living Things Change Their Environment", the 3rd grade class had the opportunity to learn about pollution, and how to reduce, reuse and recycle . Part of the class discussion included a conversation about what “we” can do to help the environment and our Earth. The 3rd graders took action and decided that they could make a larger impact by involving the whole school with the creation of a more significant recycling program for the St. Raymond student body.
The 3rd grade class has taken charge of educating the student body on the ins and outs of recycling. Large recycling bins have now been placed near the students' primary eating areas and there are posters illustrating what should be thrown in the trash and what can be recycled.
Several 3rd grade students have also volunteered to act as “Recycling Experts”. The "Recycling Experts" include Leigh M., Ryan K., Sarah T., Grant M., Charlie B., Amelia A. and Marcus G. Their job is to remind and guide their fellow students on how to best discard unwanted items. The Recycling Experts have visited the classrooms to share the recycling posters and clarify directions. It's great to see the 3rd grade students doing their part to reduce, reuse and recycle, and encouraging others to do the same!
