"Friday Night Madness" - Fun for Parents and Students
St. Raymond School kicked off the start of the PPSL basketball season with an exciting night of friendly competition. A large crowd gathered in the school gym to compete in the annual school-wide free throw shooting contest, followed by Moneyball - the parent/alumni free throw shooting contest, and finally the 7th and 8th grade three point shooting contest. "Moneyball" raised $300 to be used to help support the Friday Night Lights BBQs hosted by the Fathers' Club at St. Raymond home basketball games.
In addition to the competitions, a Banner Ceremony was held for the 2016-17 6th Grade Boys D2 Champions and the 7th Grade Boys D1 Champions. Eighth grade parents who made contributions to the basketball program over the years (as coaches, commissioners, PPSL board members, score keepers and videographers) were recognized and thanked for their service. These parents included Sean Carney, Luke Morey, Monica Morey, Zak MacRunnels, Tony Gabb, JT Sison, Roger Ross and Paul Rubens.
With the help of numerous volunteers, Bryan McCanna and Bruce Holmes did a fabulous job planning this event. Once again, Ray Madrigal and Ryan Jurian prepared a tasty BBQ dinner for all in attendance. Congratulations to all our contest winners and everyone who had a ball competing.
