Finnan M. Repeats as Spelling Bee Champion!
On January 13, the annual St. Raymond School Spelling Bee took place in the gym, where students, parents, and teachers gathered to cheer on the Cardinal participants. Grades one through eight were allowed to submit the one student who won their class spelling bee. Each child was given a word to spell and would advance to the next round if they spelled the word correctly.
After great effort from all the participating students, Finnan M. (7th Grade) and Patrick B. (5th Grade) were the last two competitors. Both boys spelled correctly for more than 20 rounds. Finally, Finnan came away with his second straight win in two years. He has won all his class spelling bees since the spelling bee was introduced to St. Raymond in 2009. Finnan will soon be participating in the regional tryout on February 11 at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, where approximately 200 students will compete in a written spelling test. Please contact the school for details to go cheer him on!
