Recology of San Mateo Gives a Tutorial on Recycling

Recology of San Mateo Gives a Tutorial on Recycling

The 3rd grade class, led by Mrs. Hinshaw, is continuing its' efforts to improve the St. Raymond School recycling program.  Recology of San Mateo visited campus to educate the students on how to be good citizens by following the five Rs -- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot and Recologize.  The ins and outs of sorting trash were explained as well as the processes that Recology uses to transport and sort our trash.  Following the presentation, the Recology representatives donned their gloves and went through the St. Raymond trash bins to show the students firsthand the mistakes that are being made in sorting our trash right here on campus.  They found compost items in the recycling bin, garbage in the compost bin and recyclables in the garbage bin.  The students now have a clear understanding of how to sort their trash after eating lunch and they agreed to make a concerted effort to do their best.
