Anti-bullying Assembly Features JLine Dance Crew
JLine Dance Crew, out of New York City, visited St. Raymond School to lead an anti-bullying assembly, and what an impression they made. This was no run-of-the-mill assembly. JLine uses dance and music to advance the themes of respecting yourself and those around you, while living a healthy lifestyle. JLine captivated the St. Raymond students with their energetic and entertaining performance which centered around the themes of respect, responsibility and perserverance. Their message emphasized following one's dreams, and that success is achieved by never giving up. The performance began with a 30 minute non-stop, high energy dance choreography that engaged and entertained the students, followed by a 15 minute period where JLine members discussed spotting and stopping bullying, respecting others and taking responsibility for your actions.
The students came away with the idea that "anything is possible with hard work, an education and focusing on what you can bring to this world that no one else can". After the performance, teachers led their classes in discussions centering on what students' learned in the assembly about bullying, about treating others with respect and about believing in themselves.
