"Girls on the Run" - St. Raymond 3rd-5th Grade Girls Participate in 5K
Over a dozen St. Raymond 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls trained over the past few months to ready themselves to participate in the "Girls on the Run" 5K which was held on Mothers' Day. The girls practiced with their coaches, Caitlin Stieren, Melissa Huffman and Kimberly Carlisle twice a week after school in order to be in shape and ready for the big 5K race in San Francisco.
"Girls on the Run" is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls. The program teaches life skills using interactive lessons and running games. The three part curriculum is aimed at teaching girls to understand themselves, value their relationships and teamwork, and understand how to connect with and help shape the world. Each season concludes with a 5K run. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness and build confidence through accomplishment.
All of the St. Raymond coaches were extremely proud of how dedicated the girls were and how much fun they had this season!
