Spotlight on the Sison Family
JT Sison was honored recently at the Lobster Dinner for his leadership and commitment to the Mens' Club, having served as Mens' Club President for the past two years. The Sison family has played a big part in St. Raymond School and Parish over the years, starting 23 years ago when JT and Ann attended their Pre-Cana classes with Father Pat Michaels before marrying in 1995. JT served on the Parish Council, and Ann led the Children's Liturgy for several years. They will soon be moving on from St. Raymond School, as Mathilde, their youngest, will be in 8th grade next Fall. Lorenzo Sison graduated from St. Raymond in 2013, and Thaddeus in 2015.
Aside from serving as Mens' Club President and overseeing the many Mens' Club events, JT chaired the Pancake Breakfast for many years, When not flipping pancakes, he was coaching both boys and girls basketball. He has been coaching for 13 years and one year coached all three of his children's teams. JT chaperoned the Balclutha Field trip twice when it was an overnight affair and traveled to Yosemite with the 8th grade class when both of his boys were in 8th grade. Ann Sison has done her part for St. Raymond volunteering her Graphic Design services over and over for Jog-A-Thons, Auctions, various Mothers' Club needs and school publicity. Always lending a hand at school events, Ann's talent and willingness to help have been invaluable over the years.
Lorenzo Sison graduated from Bellarmine last week. A graduate of the St. Raymond Class of 2013, Lorenzo played every St. Raymond sport every year. He participated in Academic Decathlon in 7th grade and was an altar server. Lorenzo took his talent for Track and Field to Bellarmine where he participated in Cross Country and Track and Field (high jump, long jump, pole vault). Lorenzo is the 2017 Western Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) Pole Vault Champion. He will be competing in the Central Coast Section (CCS) championships as well as the State Championships over the next two weeks. Lorenzo's personal pole vault record is 15'4". The Bellarmine all time record is 15'6" which Lorenzo will be trying to break at the CCS Championships and Cal State Championships. Lorenzo is headed to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the Fall where he plans to major in Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies and pole vault for the Cal Poly Track & Field team.
Thaddeus, Class of 2015, is a rising Junior at Bellarmine where he competed in Cross Country for one season and Track and Field for two seasons in the shot put and discus. While at St. Raymond, Thaddeus participated in every sport, every year and was an altar server. He helped the Academic Decathlon team advance to the State Championships where he placed Third in Literature.
Mathilde is a current St. Raymond student who has followed in her brothers footsteps by also playing every sport every year and has been a dedicated altar server. This year, as a 7th grader, Mathilde participated in Academic Decathlon. For the 4th year in a row the St. Raymond Academic Decathlon team was named the "Overall Winner" for the Archdiocese of San Francisco and Mathilde went on to compete with the team in the State Championships. It will be exciting to see which lucky local high school Mathilde will choose to attend.
The Sisons gifts of time and talent, and their St. Raymond School spirit, have been noteworthy. Always a big part of St. Raymond events, the St. Raymond School community appreciates all that the Sisons have done to support the school over the past 13 years.
