St. Raymond Gears Up for 2017-18 School Year
While the students were off enjoying the summer break, there was a lot of action taking place on campus at St. Raymond School. The Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms and hallway received a bright new coat of paint and colorful carpeting. The gym has a brand new look with fresh paint, as well as a refurbished and refinished gym floor and new tile in the foyer. Exciting changes were made to the office, improving the flow and use of space. Mechatronics has a new home in the Mikitani Innovation Lab, and the courtyard is lined with beautiful flowers and plants.
Above and beyond the changes in the look and feel of our facilities, Kellie Mullin, School Principal, and the faculty and staff have been hard at work preparing for another successful school year. The teachers and staff participated in two days of professional development last week, led by the Krauss Innovation Center. The training focused on the effective use of technology and proved to be both inspirational and informative.
This week started off with a two day retreat and orientation for the faculty. They began the retreat by attending Mass together. Sessions focused on the school mission statement, philosophy and learning expectations. Teacher expectations, goal setting, and calendar and schedule review were among the many topics discussed. Ms. Mullin introduced the theme for the school year - TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More. In line with our Catholic beliefs, this theme reminds us that if we work together and support one another, we will all benefit and create something greater than any one of us could do alone. When education is a collaborative effort with parents, students, teachers and administration working together towards one united goal the results can be astounding. The staff immediately embraced this theme as was evidenced in the breakout sessions where the teachers shared ideas and information and helped each other to prepare for the coming school year.
