We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do!!!
On Friday, September 15th, St. Raymond School held its' first Spirit Rally to kick off the school year. As always, a theme replaced the usual school uniforms. To support the theme, all students wore bright, bold colors. The Student Council made their usual entertaining grand entrance into the Spirit Rally, to accompany the lighthearted character of this event. Even the teachers took part in the fun, as the student versus teacher relay launched into action.
After everything settled down a bit, Mr. Harrison, the school's Athletic Director, stood up and recognized the 2017-18 baseball and volleyball teams. Each team, ranging from nine to fourteen in age, mentioned their goals for the season and received a treat. Afterwards, Blake Zieger, our Spirit Commissioner, announced the birthdays for June, July and August. Each birthday student received a pencil as a gift. Next, the Safety and Ecology Commissioner, Suraya Ismail, her Junior Officer, Milun Kalidindi, and Blake Zieger performed a short skit that reminded people of the importance of sorting trash. Finally, the cheer contest began. The overall winners from last year, the current eighth grade, were to receive a prize the following Monday. Everyone wanted to win, and each grade gave 110% when it came to cheering. After every class had participated, the Student Council left the room to vote on the winners. Finnan MacRunnels, the Student Body President, announced Kindergarten won third place, Fifth Grade won second place, and Second Grade were the winners!
