Finnan M. 3-Peats at Spelling Bee
St. Raymond School star speller, Finnan M., three time winner of the St. Raymond School Spelling Bee went on to compete in the area Spelling Bee at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley this past weekend. Sponsored by KPIX and KCBS, the top spellers from 200 schools gathered for a 50 word written test administered by KCBS reporter, Jason Brooks. The 50 students with the top scores in this round will advance to the Regional Bay Area Spelling Bee held at KPIX studios where they will compete in an oral spelling bee. The winner of that competition will head to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
If you happened to be watching Channel 5 local news on Saturday you may have seen Finnan being interviewed about his success at the spelling bee. "I'm hoping to do better than before and advance on my last try, and hoping to show everybody that I can make it one step further in my last year!", Finnan remarked when asked about his chances at the spelling bee by reporter Sharon Chin from KPIX. St. Raymond School is very proud of Finnan and wishes him all the best.
