Kindergarten Class Prepares Bag Lunches for the Homeless

Kindergarten Class Prepares Bag Lunches for the Homeless

Our Kindergarten students, with the help of the Colorado and Stanley families, prepared 60 bag lunches to help feed the homeless in our community.  The bag lunches were distributed by the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Homeless Desk which operates out of the Fair Oaks Community Center in Redwood City.  Every week day between 1:15 and 2:15, homeless individuals can visit the desk to obtain food, shower and clothing vouchers and other necessities that they may need to survive on the street.  The bag lunches decorated by the Kindergarteners with cheerful artwork were a welcome change for the homeless who came to Fair Oaks.  They were very happy to have a fresh sandwich, fruit and chips - all provided by our Kindergarten class.  Community Service learning plays a big part in the life of even our youngest students.
