4th Graders Experience Life in the Late 1800s

4th Graders Experience Life in the Late 1800s

The 4th grade class took a step back in time during their visit to the Woodside Store last Friday.  The Woodside Store, built in 1854, operated as a general store, post office and community center until 1909. Today it is a San Mateo County Park operated by the San Mateo County Historical Association.  During their visit, the students experienced life in the 1880s as they washed clothes, sawed wood, made a wooden shingle and acted as storekeepers.  These hands-on experiences gave the students a real feel for the hard work that was a part of daily life in those days.
